Staff Professional Learning Plans

This week and next week during our Professional Learning Team Meetings our staff have been engaged in critical conversations around Teacher Professional Learning Plans. Through teachers undertaking targeted research projects on a topic of interest they are able bring a new level of expertise to their classroom and the school.  We look forward to sharing the knowledge they have gained and the results of our action research projects with our school community at the end of the year.

                           Parent Learning Walks

Our Parent Learning Walks continued this week with Stephanie Simmonds leading our parents through the school. This term we have had quite a good response to our Learning Walks and look forward to continuing to provide this opportunity for our parents during Term 3. Keep an eye out for the link to book in our Week 1, Term 3 Newsletter.

Mathematics Improvement Initiative

St Edward's is now into the second year of the Armidale Diocesan's Mathematics Improvement Initiative. We now have all classes from Kindergarten to Year 4 participating in the program, with Year 5 and 6 to come on board in 2022.

The program aims to increase teachers' pedagogical, curriculum and content knowledge to further improve student outcomes in Mathematics. Engaging and challenging units of work are used to enable teachers to more effectively differentiate learning through rich tasks that follow the structure of "The Great Mathematics Lesson".

Our Year 1 students have just commenced their unit on Data. Students have been collecting different types of data and collating through the use of categories and tally marks.
