Maths and Report Writing

Thank you to all parents and families for your support during the last lockdown. It’s certainly a challenging time but it is made so much easier when we all work together.

In Maths this week, students played a fun mental Maths game where the aim of the game was to use addition skills in a race to get to 100. To make the game more challenging, instead of using a six-sided dice, some groups used a ten-sided or a 20-sided dice!

We have also been working on Data and Graphing. We have been collecting data and representing the data on a graph.  Students were asked to survey the class to find out their classmate's favourite Ice-Cream flavours. Once they had all the information necessary they then needed to represent this information in a bar graph.

JLC students have been fine-tuning their skills on information reports and during remote learning completed another project on an animal of their choice. Keeping in mind the features of an information report, such as big, bright, and clear headings, subheadings, neat handwriting, and pictures, students could present their work as a poster or a booklet ready for presentation during Show and Share. All students were very engaged in the task and were proud of their final products, as were Signora Michieli and Miss Wills.

We then continued our work on Information Reports by learning about and completing a Comparison Report on platypuses and snakes. The children read through the information on both animals and sorted the facts under each heading. They worked very hard on this activity and did an excellent job.

Kind Regards
