Music News- Week 15

Music Eisteddfod
Entries into the 2021 John XXIII College Music Eisteddfod are open! The premier house music competition of the year will see hundreds of students perform to earn points for their house, as well as individual awards. This year’s Eisteddfod will be held over Sunday 13 and Monday 14 June, and all parents and friends are welcome in the audience.
Students who learn through the College will generally have their entries into the Eisteddfod managed by their tutor, however all students are welcome to enter. Students learning externally can access the applications via the following link – entries into the Eisteddfod close on Wednesday 2 June at 4pm. Students may choose to enter any of the following categories:
- Piano
- Winds and Brass
- Percussion
- Guitar and Electric Bass
- Strings
- Voice
- Original Composition
- Small Ensembles
Students are welcome to enter multiple categories, but with only one entry per category. All students entering the Eisteddfod (except in Piano) have access to accompaniment by College Accompanists. Rehearsals are arranged in the week leading up to the Eisteddfod. Music for accompanists can either be uploaded via the entry form or delivered to the Music Office.
We encourage all students learning an instrument or singing to enter! Please contact the Music Department with any queries.
Music Camp
Please be reminded that families intending to collect students from Music Camp at Fairbridge Village after the camp concert on Sunday 20 June should please complete the following form. Additionally, please inform the Music Department of any dietary requirements as soon as possible.
Autumn Soiree
Our 200 musicians performed wonderfully at our recent Autumn Soiree. Performances featured our Concert Band, Wind Band, Chamber Orchestra, Swing Band, Treble and Chamber Choirs. Congratulations to all students and staff involved.
