Middle Learning Community

What learning has been happening in MLC?

Wow...what a term! Thank you to all parents and children in MLC for keeping their cool and for their amazing support during remote learning. It was certainly a challenging time but also a positive reminder of how strong and unified the St Bridget's community is. It has been truly wonderful to be back at school with the children this past few weeks and being able to reconnect as a class.

In writing we have been learning about Narratives and including a message or moral. Students have been working hard planning, writing, editing and illustrating a picture story book with the intent to read them to the Prep students next term. Below are narratives by Bronte and Mackenzie and Nikki.

Don't Forget

By Bronte

“Lucy don’t forget your manners.” Said Mum.”Where are they?” answered Lucy. “You have bad manners Lucy!” Shouted Mum. It was night. Mum sneaked out of her room and she put a sign underneath Lucy’s bedroom door. It said: DON’T FORGET YOUR MANNERS! Lucy then never forgot her manners again. Then Lucy lived happily. She only sometimes forgot her manners but it was never on purpose.Moral: Always use your manners.

Animal Farm

By Mackenzie and Nikki

One day Piglet the pig went swimming in the mud.

When Piglet got out of the mud Mum and Dad gave him a bath and could not get  the mud off Piglet. Piglet was meant to scrub himself but he did not.

“Piglet were you playing in the bath?” asked Mum.

”No I was trying my best to wash the mud off,” said Piglet.

Mum looked closer to make sure Piglet had no toys in the bath.

Naughty PIG! “Piglet!” shouted Mum “What ?” asked Piglet.

“I can see a toy in the bath,” said Mum. “Yes I know,” said Piglet.

Mum was so angry.

“Get out of the bath NOW!” Shouted Mum.”But I haven’t got all the mud off yet,” said Piglet.

“You should have done it by now” said Mum. “You said you have scrubbed,” said Mum in a mad voice.

Piglet apologised and scrubbed all the mud off then Mum said to Piglet, “I’m sorry I got mad at you.

“I’m sorry I lied,'' said Piglet and gave his Mum a huge hug.

Moral: Always tell the truth!
