From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to a huge Term 4, I hope everyone had an excellent break. On the last day of Term 3 our School Captain’s Hayley and Darcy attended a commemorative event at Somerville House for the Queen’s Jubilee; as representatives for Somerville Primary School.

The last day of Term 3, whilst a distant memory we celebrated of 40th Footy Day with the Somerville local community. Sharing these events with the community and forming strong connections with the broader community is what Somerville PS thrives on.

Last Term Katie Bingham organised and ran an art competition. It showcased how talented our students are; with many exemplary entries. Following the student vote we have three winners; congratulations to:

Senior School category: Chloe Jones

Middle School category: Halamehi Fosita

Junior School category: Apolosi Fosita

Mobile Phones

As more students get mobile phones just a reminder regarding the Department of Education Mobile Phone Policy, that all Mobile Phones and Smart Watches with cellular capacity need to be signed in at the office every day. To view the policy, please click below

Thank you to the many families who already do this.

Student Placement 2023

The creation of 2023 classes and the placement of our students is a complex process requiring many factors to be taken into consideration. Parent information is one part of the process, along with the carefully considered information that teachers gather through their daily work with their students, including their detailed knowledge of their students as learners as well as the way they work and interact with others. Parents are requested to only provide information that may assist their child’s learning and educational needs. Requests for individual teachers will not be considered.  If you have any educational requests related to your child’s class placement in 2023, please complete a form and return to us by Monday 7 November, 2022.

Parents wishing to provide confidential information to assist us in the process of student placement should download a ‘Class Placement of Pupils’ form, available above.

Are you relocating to another school in 2023?

As in all school communities, some families relocate at the end of the year. Please advise the office as soon as possible, if you will not be returning to SPS in 2023.  As you will understand, projected enrolments influence our workforce planning and class configurations.  Thank you in advance for a prompt reply, today if possible.

Our Shade Sails have been installed and brighten up our yard. Hopefully everyone has been able to stay dry, have a great weekend.

Kind Regards,
