Physical Education

Welcome to Term 4! All classes have started the term with new units. Over the last two weeks we have been focussing on the following:

Prep – Kicking

Grade 1/2 – Striking: exploring how to hit using different types of bats

Grade 3/4 – Striking and Fielding games, focussing on striking technique

Grade 5/6 – Striking and Fielding games, focussing on tactical thinking

Swimming is part of the PE curriculum this term and is FREE for 2022. If you haven’t already done so, can you please either consent or decline on the Compass event, at your earliest convenience. The earlier we have final numbers, the easier it is to organise. Thank you 😊

SEPEP

Last term, our students in 5/6 completed a Sport Education in Physical Education Program (SEPEP) unit. Each class selected an invasion sport for their roster and ran the season themselves. When students weren’t playing, they were the duty team and had to fulfil the roles that you see in community sport. We played grand finals in the last week of Term 3 and announced the Sportsmanship and Most Valuable Player awards (as voted by the class) this term. Congratulations to the following teams and students:

Hoop Time Minis

What a fun and fabulous day for our Grade 1 and 2 students on the second last day of Term 3! This year, for the first time, we participated in Hoop Time Minis. Students participated in a skills session in the morning and then played mini basketball games in teams in the afternoon. A HUGE thank you to the grade 1/2 teachers and all the parent helpers who came along and coached a team. It really was a great day!

Division Athletics

Congratulations to 6 of our Grade 4 students who competed at the Yarra Division Athletics on Thursday the 6th of October. All students represented Rolling Hills wonderfully and produced the following outstanding results:

Good luck to Hudson, Cody, Harvey and Hamish, who will now compete at the Regional Championships on Thursday the 20th of October!

PMP

To begin Term 4, our Prep students have participated in activities practising the following skills: crawling, rolling, jumping, balancing, bouncing, kicking, skipping, throwing and catching. We had some of our Grade 4 students step up and help with sessions last week, while the 5/6 students were away on camp. Well done on a fantastic job!
