Religion and Parish News

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary, so this newsletter’s prayer will contain the various prayers used to recite a decade of the Rosary.

  1. Sign of the Cross
  2. The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespass as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen
  1. Hail Mary (recite ten times)
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen
  1. Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen
  1. The Fatima Prayer
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who most need thy mercy.

Catholic Mission & Socktober for World Mission Month

As you may know from previous years, we recognise World Mission Month every October. This year, we are helping Catholic Mission raise money for rural Ethiopian towns, such as Emdibir. Malnutrition and food insecurity continue to be key issues for many Ethiopians. Shockingly, malnutrition is a contributing factor in half of all child deaths in the country and Catholic Mission is asking for our help to ensure they can continue to address these needs.

Our school’s fundraising goal is $1500. A link to our online fundraising portal will be shared with you shortly, and any donations you make online can be done so anonymously if you wish. The link can also be shared to your extended family and friends for greater exposure.

On Friday of Week 3, we will also be hosting a Crazy Sock Fundraising Day and  a Sock-Ball Shoot-Out with the sock-balls made in class. For the donation of a gold-coin, students will be able to wear their craziest socks to school and will round out our Mission Month fundraising. More information about this will be provided to families via Compass, Seesaw and/or email.

We, and Catholic Mission, are extremely grateful for any donation you can afford to make.

Term 3 St Vincent de Paul Fundraiser

On the last Monday of Term 3, Mr and Mrs John and Jacinta Stanley, volunteers at our local St Vincent de Paul Society branch, came to our school assembly and received the carefully-wrapped presents from Years 2 & 3. After our fundraising efforts in Week 8, we were able to purchase $500 worth of blankets and food vouchers to donate to Vinnies in order to support those locals in need. John and Jacinta spoke about how wonderfully-generous this project was and were extremely grateful for our support.

Sacrament of First Reconciliation

In the last week of Term 3, candidates in the Sacrament of First Reconciliation program participated in a Retreat Day before gathering at St Joseph’s Church to say their first confession. It was a very special occasion, led by Father Abmar, and was a wonderful way to reflect on Scripture teachings the students had learnt about regarding God’s unending love and forgiveness.
