National Summer Art Scholarship 2023 Congratulations and Thank You!

Towards the end of last year, Ms McKechnie from the Visual Art Department of the College alerted Max T. of then 11B (now 12B) to an opportunity to apply for a scholarship to spend one week at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. Max was busy with exam study but was determined to give the rigorous application the attention it warranted.

At the end of school term in 2022, he was informed of his award to attend the National Summer Art Scholarship. Only two participants were selected from each state all around Australia. He was one of two selected to represent WA!

For one whole week from the 14 to 21 January 2023, he was immersed in the workings of a gallery, met the creative staff and people working in the arts industry, introduced to professional artists and studio practices and met fellow alumni members and like minded creative peers from all around Australia.

The immersion also gave him the opportunity to participate in art activities ranging from: life drawing; chromatography; performance art, and other inspirited programming.

Before any further time slips past, we would like to extend our deepest thanks to Ms McKechnie for her energy, encouragement and continuous support for her students in the arts.
