Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours !

3/4A - Ms Yvette and Mrs Hunter

3/4A has experienced a wonderful couple of weeks of learning, playing, creating memories, and strengthening friendships.

Our Grade 4 students should feel enormously proud and content with their experiences, behaviour, fun, and the grit they displayed during their recent Camp to Toolangi, in the beautiful Yarra Valley. Students participated in various activities, such as Hut Building, Obstacle Course, Flying Fox, and the Possum Glider, which was a real highlight.

“The food was superb, and I got all 3 toppings on my ice-cream!” – Mia B.

“I had a great time there and I really enjoyed the movie. I loved the food.” Sadie W-Y.

“On Camp, we had an amazing time at the activities. They included Possum Glider, Flying Fox and much more!” -Arad H.

“My favourite part of camp was spending time in the cabin with friends and watching the movie.” -Giacomo B.

“I loved the food and activities at camp, especially the roast, apple crumble, Flying Fox and Possum Glider. I also enjoyed hanging out with my friends and getting to know new people!” – Josie B.

Our Grade 3 students enjoyed the chance to mix with their peers from other classes in different learning environments, and took part in a wonderful week of ‘Potato Olympics’, using a plethora of different maths skills.

“Potato Olympics were amazing! We were given a potato from a certain country, mine was from Japan, and the potato competed in events like Spudput, High Jump, and Potato Roll. IT WAS AMAZING!!” – Caitlin C.

“I loved the Potato Olympics! I came second in the Potato Balance. I balanced my potato on my head, standing on one leg, for 8 minutes and 23 seconds!” – Umiko S.

I liked doing the Potato Olympics because we did really fun things! – Eva C.

3/4C - Mr Lewis

The students have been exploring the connection between fractions and decimals. Here is Neve’s example of showing fractions and their decimal conversion representation.

In Science, the students have been conducting water experiments to coincide with Water Week. Following these experiments they learnt about the Water Cycle and created diagrams to show the ongoing process of Precipitation, Collection,  Evaporation and Condensation.

3/4D - Mr Mitch

In Week 5, the Grade 3 students who remained at school (while the Grade 4 students were on camp) participated in the Potato Olympics. This involved creating a potathlete that performed various track and field events which was recorded and judged by the students. This was a fantastic way to introduce data and statistic to the Grade 3’s .

The Grade 4 students had a fabulous time at Camp Toolangi in Week 5. They participated in several activities including the flying fox, possum glider and obstacle course. It was great to see the students interacting with one another in such a positive manner over the three days.

In the past week we have been finishing up our unit on fractions. This task saw the students create their very own ideal pizza which was accompanied by a key indicating the fractions that were associate with the design.

This week, students completed their first Big Write of the term. It was a narrative based on the stimulus "The Door". Students used their Seven Steps and VCOP to come up with some fantastic pieces of work!
