Grade 2 Students

Celebrating our terrific Twos!

2A - Mr E

2A has been having fun learning about fractions. We have identified that fractions are part of a whole and that we can chop a whole into smaller parts. To help us visualise this, we made one caterpillar, and then we looked at the smaller parts that made up the caterpillar. We have also become ravenous thinking about fractions in terms of pieces of lasagne and slices of pizza!

2B - Miss Bailey

Over the past few weeks, 2B have been learning all about narratives. We have focused on breaking down each aspect of a narrative to help us to create the strongest narrative possible. We have looked at many strategies including:

  • STEAL (Speech, Thoughts, Emotions, Actions and Looks) to help us describe characters.
  • Sizzling starts using different hooks such as dialogue, a question, description or onomatopoeia.
  • Setting the scene of a story with our five senses.

Students have worked their way through the planning, drafting, revising, editing and publishing stages to create their finished masterpieces. 2B are writing superstars!

2C - Mr K

In 2C we have come to the end of our amazing unit of Narratives. The quality and standard of our work has been remarkable (as demonstrated by Georgie E this week). We have also started a unit on Fractions and have enjoyed learning what fraction of our paper ball basketballs landed in our hat hoops! We have also learnt to write the fractions of a whole with our outcomes (as shown by Phoebe M & Kiko G).
