Year 12 International Students Farewell Dinner

The Northcote High School congratulates the Year 12 International Students of 2022 and recognises their significant milestones of completing 12 years of formal schooling.

The Class of 2022 along with teachers and staff came together on the evening of 16 November to spend a wonderful night in celebration of the senior class graduation of high school. All guests were treated to lovely Chinese dishes and international students’ shared interesting stories of school days past and made presentations to their teachers and they in turn received gifts to mark the milestone.

Mr Jones, the Principal of NHS, and Ms Hill, the Director of NHS Global Education, made farewell speeches that captured the highlights of international students’ school days from orientation through to their final days. Cici Wang then responded on behalf of our Year 12 student cohort.

We wish all of our international students success in their next journey beyond NHS and hope they feel fulfilled in the pathway they have decided to take. We thank them for the richness they have added to the NHS community and trust they have enjoyed their time with us and the relationships they have made along the way.

Learning about supporting our Mental Health

As an international student from Vietnam, the mental health session that we had last week was very interesting for me. Mental illnesses have always been neglected in Asian countries, therefore having such a lesson like that really helped me to understand more about myself. I learnt that mental health is just as important as physical health, and everyone has different ways to cope with issues. Setting boundaries is also a good way to maintain healthy relationships around us. On the other hand, there are plenty of ways to keep us feel happy like working out, sleeping, or hanging out with friends… Whenever you’re upset and overwhelmed because of school or just looking forward for someone to talk to, you can seek for help at our school wellbeing room; or call specialist helplines like kids helpline, which is available 24/7.
