Upper Junior Secondary 2

What's been happening?

Upper Junior Secondary 2 have been exploring animal habitats, writing information reports, using questioning and predictive reading strategies and exploring mathematical concepts using hand on learning experiences.

We use assistive technologies to understand our learning goals and communicate our ideas.

We have explored the animal world by reading shared fiction and non-fiction books about different types of animals.

We discussed the key subheadings used in information books: appearance, habitats, diet, lifecycle, predators, survival skills and interesting facts.

We learnt to use the speech to text tool in Notes, Proloquo2go (a communication app), Prizmo (an app that reads any book we photograph), speech recognition and the read to me function available on web pages using Microsoft Edge.

We would show you more, but if you want to see our finished work you will need to attend our “ANIMALS ARE AWESOME” event on Wednesday 30th November in the B Block classrooms from 12-1pm.

In Maths, we have learnt about sharing and dividing groups.  We have discovered how many cuts need to be made for halves, quarters and eighths to be created.

BUT . . . after all our work is done, we never forget to celebrate our success (and have a bit of FUN).

P.S. I tell them that they cannot tell too many people; otherwise, everyone will discover that learning is exciting.
