School Council

Dear Parents,

As school council president, I am so delighted to see such a dramatic and strategic improvement to our school over the course of this year. School council, the staff, parents and importantly the students have all contributed to this improvement for which we should all be proud. Particular highlights for me this year include:

  • The continuation of our IDEAS project which has seen the launch of our new school vision 'Empowering Global Citizens' and our subsequent Pedagogical Principles (or principles of teaching) which incorporate our school mascot with a play on words. These principles are Bee Connected, Bee Curious, Bee Challenged and Bee Creative.  These principles are incorporated into all teaching and learning programs.
  • Certainly the return to face to face teaching after so many lock downs has been a highlight.  Whilst NAPLAN is only one measure, an indication of the impact our staff are having on improving student outcomes is evident in this year's results which were by far the strongest result for many years.
  • The magnificent student leaders, although I may be a little biased here as my son is one of them. They have done an amazing job this year and are a group of leaders we are truly proud of. From leading assemblies with humour and candour, to days of significance such as ANZAC Day and National Sorry Day and everything in between. Our leaders certainly have big shoes to fill next year and I have no doubt next year's student leaders will be just as wonderful.
  • The very strong opinion results from Students, Parents and Staff.  The strength of these results demonstrate to us on council that the measures we are taking on our improvement journey are being well received, well communicated and are having the desired impact on connecting our community behind improved student results.

  • The continued refurbishment to the school and its grounds. This year alone we have seen the installation of a new fence surrounding our school, continued repainting of classrooms and our foyer, a new playground installed as well as a new basketball court to be installed over the Christmas break. When we instil a sense of pride in our school, those in our community treat and respect our school likewise.

Finally of course your help as fellow parents has been a huge achievement.  From parents being so considerate and supportive with COVID guidelines, to parents attending our Parent Forums, to helping out on camps and swimming and to attending school events such as our Expo Night, athletics day and Remembrance Day service.  To you all I say a huge thank you and I look forward to working with you all next year as we continue to lift our parent involvement beyond COVID disruptions of the past.

Regards,

Vince Scarfo
