Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

It has been wonderful to see so many students taking part in our swimming program this week and last. A big thank you to Ms Wishart for organising such a successful program, and for moving it so close to the warmer months when many of our students will be putting their swimming practice to good use over the holiday period.  Increasing physical activity has been a strong focus for us this year after nearly two years in and out of lockdown. Extending the swimming program from prep to grade three in previous years to prep to grade four this year is yet another example of this.

Last week the last of our opinion survey results came through and they, like the others, were very pleasing. This time around it was the staff opinion survey results. These results are collected annually and all staff members are encouraged to respond. A snapshot of the results reveals the following:

  • Our overall school climate (culture) has improved from 70% to 73% which is equal to state results and above results of schools similar to ours.
  • Our endorsement of professional learning this year is 80% which is well above similar and state results and higher than our own 2021 result of 77%.
  • The endorsement of school leadership is also on the rise from 76% last year to 81% this year and again above similar and state results.
  • Our 'School Staff Safety and Wellbeing follows a similar pattern in that it is higher this year at 73% than last year at 69% and also higher than similar schools at 64%.
  • Finally, the measures of Teaching and Learning (Practice, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) are all significantly above similar and state results and are by far the strongest results in this category for at least the past five years.

All in all, these results are outstanding and something the school is very proud of. It caps off a wonderful year of significant growth in all categories thanks to the hard work of parents, staff and students.

As we move towards the end of the year, all grades in some way will be celebrating Christmas or the holiday period. We acknowledge however that not all families celebrate these times the same, so if there are certain elements of school life you do not want your child to participate in, please let us know.  We are more than happy to meet the learning needs of all students and families during this time to ensure we include everyone in a culturally inclusive fashion.

A reminder that our end of year 'Crocs' excursion is fast approaching as is graduation for our grade 6 students. Please be sure to add these dates to your calendar. Finally, a reminder that on the last day of the school year classes conclude at 1:30pm. TheirCare will be available from this time should you require this service.

Regards,
