What does this opportunity mean for me?
Year 5 have been thinking and discussing the leadership opportunities for 2023. We have considered the qualities of good leaders, and which positions we may wish to apply for in the coming weeks. It is an exciting time in our primary school journey.
Some of our thoughts:
I want to be a leader to help and encourage other people.’
‘Being a leader will give me the chance to be responsible and to collaborate with others.’
‘I have always wanted to be a leader and I hope to learn some new skills.’
‘Optimism and a positive outlook are great qualities that I would like to share.’
‘Being a leader at Clayfield College Primary would be a dream come true for me.’
‘I hope to be a House Captain, to encourage team spirit in my house.’
Students are busily preparing their video entries for Clayfield's Got Talent!
See more information below from our College Captains, Myra and Savaana. Please note that the dates have changed slightly, to allow students more time to prepare their entries.
On 17 November, Year 9 Social Science students are holding a bake sale to raise funds to sponsor a reindeer herd. Primary students will be able to pre-order a baked item in the week before. Pre-order forms and prices will be available nearer the time.
Why: During our Year 9 Social Science subject, our students are required to take action on an issue they have discovered during their study of biomes. They are putting their inquiry learning into action and trying to affect positive change for reindeer herds in the Artic and the groups of people who survive on and with these herds.
The only earrings that are permitted as per the Uniform Policy are the following:
Small, thin gold/silver sleepers
Small gold/silver studs
The students will be very pleased to note that next year, the College Shop will be selling pearl earrings, which will be added to the Uniform Policy in 2023. The only pearl earrings which will be permitted are those sold at the College Shop.
Second or third piercings are not permitted, including the wearing of clear studs. Wearing tape over earrings is not acceptable. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

At the end of last term, the Year 6 cohort went away to Canberra for three days. It was a fantastic trip to our national capital, and the students upheld our College Values impeccably from start to finish. Whilst in Canberra they visited the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the Electoral Education Centre, Old Parliament, the National Capital Exhibition, the Australian Institute of Sport and, of course, a grand tour of Parliament House. It was an action packed few days! The Canberra Tour was a fantastic way to bring the Civics and Citizenship curriculum to life and gave students a feel not only for how democracy works in this country, but also what their role can be.
We have had a fantastic response to the ‘buy one, get one free’ book fair this week, with over 95 students ordering their chosen books. Thank you so much for your support of this event. It's great to think of so many of our families enjoying books together!
Mental Health Week
Mental Health Week is an annual awareness week that aims to shine the spotlight on individual and community mental health and wellbeing. At Clayfield College, we recognise the importance of bringing mental health into focus and creating opportunities for discussion, awareness, skill building and fun through community connection. A range of activities occurred across the week that focused on getting students moving, interacting and having fun. These included a gratitude tree, paint and chill, a petting zoo, a staff versus student dodgeball game, mindful colouring and a dance party.
