Tasmanian opening batter Caleb Jewell (svc 2010-13) has had a great to the 2022-23 interstate cricket season with two centuries ( 108 n.o. and 126 n.o.) along with a further two half centuries. May the form continue.

Sprinter Jack Hale (SVC 2011-14), pictured top, has returned to Hobart to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has been based in Melbourne since 2018. To quote Jack from a recent article by Ryan Rosendale in the Hobart Mercury:

I think it was a tough decision  but at the end of the day for me I’ve put myself in a position where I want to execute the next two years of my training in the most effective way.

I’m going to be 26 at the next Olympics and 30 at the following one so my best opportunity to do well in this sport is Paris so that’s why I made the move to utilize everything I can in Tassie.

I’ve done all my due diligence and put myself in the best position.

I’ve got an awesome team around me with the Tasmanian Institute of Sport and everyone at the TIS is supportive of me with the decision to move home.
