Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

NEW NEWS.

Last Sunday marked the final Sunday of the Church’s 2022 year with the celebration of the Feast of Christ the King.

This Sunday, we celebrate the beginning of the Church’s liturgical year with the First Sunday of Advent and the beginning of Year A in our liturgical cycle. We focus on Matthew’s gospel in 2023.

Advent is the time in which we prepare for Christmas, the memorial of Jesus Christ being born into the world. Preparations may be practical, such as decorating your Christmas tree or putting up decorations, but we are also encouraged to prepare spiritually for the birth of Christ.

During Advent, we are invited to enter more frequently into silence, into prayer and reflection, into Scripture, and into the sacramental life of the Church, all to prepare for celebrating Christmas.

The theme for the First Sunday of Advent is HOPE.

Please join us at Assembly next Monday at 2.30pm as the Grade 5/6 students lead us in prayer for the beginning of Advent and the lighting of the first Advent candle on our Advent wreath.

NEW NEWS.

A key recommendation in the 2020 “Go Forth” Review of the Diocese was that Bishop Shane Mackinlay establish a Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Council (DMPC) to support him to “operate in a strategic and collaborative way, drawing on the best possible advice of lay people and clergy for delivery of the Church’s mission.” (Go Forth Report).

When established, the Council will support synodal governance in the Diocese through a structure that builds co-responsibility and discernment in leadership and decision making. It will strengthen our capacity to operate in a strategic and collaborative way, by drawing on the best possible advice of lay people and clergy for pursuing the Church’s mission.
