Middle School

Middle School

I would like to continue to thank our staff and families for their continual support for our Middle School Students. This has definitely been a busy term with NAPLAN, Camps, guest speakers and a number of  House and Lunchtime activities.

Our students have continued to demonstrate perseverance and a growth mindset towards their learning throughout the term. At this mid-way point of the term I encourage all students to continue to focus on their learning and to challenge themselves.

Our SWBP focus for this term has been the following:

  • Embrace Learning - I will arrive to class on time with all the correct learning equipment.
  • Embrace Learning - During my time at school my computer use is directly related to classroom learning and school related activities.

We continue to teach routines and expectations to our students in line with our School Wide Positive Behaviours and Behaviour Matrix. We ensure that students are acknowledged for continuing to demonstrate our values.

Year 7

Year 7 students have had a settled start back to school this term.  We have been very impressed by our students’ ability to seamlessly transition back into their learning and routine. Thank you to all parents that have ensured that their child is in the correct winter uniform, we greatly appreciate your support.

This term we are continuing to acknowledge students who wear the correct uniform and arrive at Home Group on time with the correct resources with merit cards. Students can trade in their merit cards for rewards. Some popular rewards include access to buildings and the gym during lunch, ice cream and special access to the canteen (coming soon!).

Term two began with students attending Lake Dewar camp. We were incredibly impressed by the behaviour and engagement of students that attended on this day and the feedback about our students from the camp was fantastic. We thank students for showing our school values and representing the school so positively.

We had a lovely morning tea with our scholarship winners. We enjoyed hearing about their experiences so far of high school and things that they are most excited about for the remainder of the year. It was great to get some feedback from students about ways that we can continue to improve our transition program for year sevens.

Well done to our scholarship winners

Year 8

The year 8’s started off the term strong and have settled into their routine especially well. We are appreciative of the parent support in ensuring students are wearing their full winter uniform and sports uniform on sport days. We look forward to rewarding those that continue to wear the correct school uniform and provide a note when necessary.

This term, year 8 students will be participating in an awards program and fortnightly winners will be nominated by the teachers with the winners having their photo up on display and a prize of their choice. We are very proud of their efforts and the consistency in showing the school values. Well done to all the winners and good luck to prospective winners.

This term, the year 8’s also attended camp, and for many it was the first time being away from home after a long two years. There were lots of laughs and smiles, as well as many new friendships being formed between the students. It was nice to see that many students were willing to challenge themselves and support each other through activities they would  usually participate in, but they did so excitedly.

They eagerly participated in many activities including the giant swing; low and high ropes; archery; frisbee golf; a bike ride; a night walk and the amazing chase. It was delightful to see students participate in all activities and even conquer some of their fears of heights. We are very proud of the students as they showed all the school values, behaved responsibly and respectfully and represented our College with pride.
