Harri spent the week at Melrose Animal Hospital in Albury. He said that the best part of his week was experiencing first-hand the excellent care that animals are given by the veterinarians and staff. He also got to observe surgeries and even monitored the heart-rate of dogs who came in for check-ups.
Isaac did his work experience with Parks Victoria. The pics below show him taking part in an induction for AustNet Services workers on the Bogong High Plains (to ensure best practice conservation of the environment and cultural heritage is undertaken while replacing power poles in the Alpine National Park to Falls Creek).
Quite cold - with windchill, the weather station said minus 8! Brrr!

The year 8 Indonesian did their fashion show last term. Their topic in class was clothing. Students enjoyed the experience of trying on some traditional Indonesian clothing and described what they wore in the Indonesian language.
How fit are our Year 8 students? Let's give them a BEEP fitness test.......they might be a bit less chatty after that...
Our students complete fitness testing multiple times throughout the year to monitor their cardiovascular endurance through undertaking such physical activities such as a vertical jump, Illinois agility test, sit and reach etc. The Beep test is taught in conjunction with fitness components and discussion about activities that relate and how endurance can be improved for each student.
During Year 7 Science classes earlier in the year, students investigated ‘cells’ as the basic unit of life. In order to understand the parts of a cell, students have been busy making these models of plant and animal cells. The students did an excellent job, particularly when dealing with some tricky terminology like mitochondria, golgi apparatus and cytoplasm.
Year 8 students studied the body systems-heart dissection in Science with Mr. Davies.
This year we had a visit from the VVLN Program Manager and School Liaison Officer, Rob Hallisey and Psychology teacher Allison Andrea who are based in Bendigo. Our school has enjoyed an excellent partnership with the VVLN over the past 8 years, giving our Senior students the opportunity to study subjects by correspondence in the library that due to timetabling or low numbers they might otherwise not have access to. Year 11 student Lucy who is studying Psychology through the VVLN, enjoyed this opportunity to meet her teacher face-to-face, receive feedback and ask any questions relating to the course.
