Welcome

It's an absolute pleasure to welcome you back to our Mount Beauty Secondary College Newsletter!  We have designed this weekly publication with a dual purpose in mind for our readers - to communicate any important dates/reminders/general school admin to our parents & guardians and to also showcase the wonderful variety of academic, sporting, artistic, musical and design endeavours and voices we have here in our vibrant school community.

Our school is an important part of the fabric of our supportive local community and we take pride in maintaining the deep connection we have to our area and people.  Our newsletter is designed to align with our school values - Aspiration Confidence Respect.   This week, year 12 student Clem Beazley embodied all three of our school values with his beautifully hand-crafted pen made from Tasmanian sassafras wood which he displayed and spoke about at a staff meeting.  You can see Clem's work and read abouthow our students display our values here and in the wider community in the 'School Values' page of this newsletter.

Term 4 is always a busy time in schools, but this week it is definitely a bit quieter with many of our students away on the Sydney trip.  From all accounts they are having a wonderful time and you can view some photos of this trip and other events in the 'Student News' page of the newsletter.  This morning they even got on morning TV!

This year we have welcomed in some wonderful new staff to our team and wished those leaving us all the best for the future.  You can read about this in our 'Staffing page'.    One of our new staff members and Yr 8 Coordinator Dan Carroll, recently led his Year 7 Humanities class in creating a monopoly board based on Ancient China.  All students contributed - from 3D printing dice and Chinese playing characters with teacher Josh Davies in the Science lab to making all the property/chance/community chess cards based on Chinese history.  You can view their efforts in the video here - such a great idea - new technology and design meets Ancient History!

We hope you enjoy the new format newsletter and we welcome any reader suggestions or critiques.  Our newsletter link will be sent out weekly through Compass and Facebook and will also be available on our website.  If you prefer to receive it via email you can subscribe below.  Thank you.  Happy Reading!
