Representatives from City Living - the builder and Detail9- project manager also attended and its great to be finally able to access all areas. The children are certainly enjoying the trickle stream, new sand pit, mud kitchens and fort.

Education Week

This week we will celebrate Education Week with families on Open Night on Thursday Evening 6-700pm. This is an excellent opportunity to visit your child's classroom, look through their work and view photos and displays that are used to celebrate and support their work. At approximately 6.50pm we will move in to the court yard to be welcomed by the school leaders and hear the choir perform. Please socially distance as much as possible and we encourage all adults to wear masks. Of course we will have hand sanitiser available, air purifiers running and and as much ventilation as possible.

We are looking forward to welcoming families into the school classrooms. On Saturday we have our Working Bee and Open Day in the Kinder and School a tour will run with bookings through the website for prospective families 9.30 -10.30.

Farewell Kelly-Anne

I've received a lovely email from Kelly-Anne to thank everyone for the kind wishes and 'the best send off anyone could have wished for.'

Thank you to all our parents that were able to take time out to say farewell to Kelly-Anne. It has been nice to spend time reflecting on Kelly-Anne's contribution over the years to Mount Pleasant Kinder.

Education Support Personnel Day

ES Day is always a nice opportunity to make sure we acknowledge all of the good work of our ES. From the students that they work closely with, to the classes that they work with and the vital contribution they make to the education of all of our students including the support given to families. We celebrated with a special lunch and Pupil of the Week awards. Thank you to Tania Hosken for getting us all organised. Thank you Ally, Sue, Jane, Mrs Naismith, Mrs Gil, Miss Rish, Mrs Scheetz, Miss Corless, Mrs Sharma, Miss K, Mrs Mabian, Mrs Jones, Miss Pitsilos.

3/4 Visual and Performing Arts Excursion

The 3/4 Independence Centre had an exciting Visual and Performing Arts excursion on Thursday to Hamer Hall and LUME!

Students journeyed through the 'Carnival of Animals' as they explored depictions of animals in Saint-Saëns’ zoological fantasy through music and puppetry.

Students then travelled through the life of Van Gough as the digital gallery transformed the art into fully immersive sensory encounter. Students enjoyed indulging in their senses, drawing their own Van Gough masterpieces and walking through a field of sunflowers.

Thank you to the 3/4 team with special mention to Mrs Yana Gil and Mrs Claire Andrews for their inspiration and organisation of the event.

1/2 Cyber Safety Incursion

The 1/2 students had fun learning how to be safe online with Sam and Trent from the Cyber Safety Project.

Students were involved in learning the positive and negative emotions we might feel online and what to do if we feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Below you will find an acronym to break down the steps of balancing digital wellbeing online.

The teachers were so impressed with the variety of strategies 1/2 students had for recharging their emotional batteries: getting a good night's sleep, monitoring how long they are on devices, going outside to do something active or eating a healthy meal, just to name a few!

We will continue to explore our digital wellbeing and ways to stay safe online in the coming weeks.

Foundation Space Incursion

Foundation students were very excited to take part in the Space Incursion by PrimeSCI! on Wednesday last week. They discussed how the Earth revolves around the Sun and learnt how this can impact our seasons.  There were some engaging and hands-on activities that involved measuring temperatures with thermometers and creating an air seal to keep something dry. Every student created their own 'planet in a cup', which we will continue to observe over the coming weeks!

I.C.E. and Junior Rotations

ICE is back!  Thank you to our organisers Miss Megan Campbell and Miss Emily Richardson and all of our amazing parents for donating an hour of their time to run an activity.  Jewellery Making, Contemporary  Dance and Craft Workshop, Pom  Pom Art and Wood Work are just a few of our parent run activities.
