Education Week

Week 5 (next week) is Education Week across Victoria and we'll be

holding our Open Evening this week and open classroom mornings during Education Week. All of our classrooms will be open to parents and there will be different opportunities in each class to engage in observations of learning, take part in activities (such as Maths or STEM) and chat with your child about their learning.  It’s also a great chance to see your child’s classroom in action and support them in their learning.

Looking forward to seeing you all in classrooms next week!  More information will be circulated via compass.

NAPLAN

Well done to our Year 3 and 5 students who are sitting their NAPLAN tests last week, we are very proud of the way all students have done their absolute bests to display the great learning that has been occurring for them at BPS.

As children progress through their school years, it is very important that checks are made along the way to see how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and mathematics – skills that will set them upon the path to success as adults.

NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents and carers to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress.

Parents and Friends Update

The Annual General meeting of the P&F was held next last Thursday 5th May.  I'd like to extend a big thank you to Lynette Nilaweera who has stepped down as President. Congratulations to Rebecca Pooley who has taken on the role as President and Nadelle Walters who is continuing as Secretary. We are still looking for someone to take on the role of treasurer - please find more details on the Parents and Friends page.

I have to say, that's not even half of what is happening around BPS at the moment, so make sure you stay up to date by following our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BlackburnPrimarySchool/
