A Message from the Principal

Over the past fortnight the school has been involved with the wider community, in a variety of ways. School leaders and our FIRE carriers visited Aquinas College as part of Reconciliation Week, along with  many other Primary schools. We were honoured to meet the Ethiopian Cardinal who was also visiting Aquinas with Catholic Missions. Our two School Captains, Jasmine and Connor, were invited to attend lunch with Bruce Atkinson, at Eastwood primary School. He has been a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Council since October 1992. It was great opportunity to meet with other school leaders and learn some important qualities of being a good leader.

Today our Year 3/4 students have also attended a Gala Sports Day with many schools in our local area. They represented St John's in netball, football and handball and had a fun day.

Lexie

https://fundraise.kidswithcancer.org.au/fundraisers/donnabright/wigs-4-kids

Lexie is a Year 5 student at St John's and has made the courageous and generous decision to cut off her hair and donate it for kids with cancer. She decided that she wanted to donate her hair to a little child who needed it, knowing how important it was to her having long hair, so she wants to make someone happy during a very challenging time.

For the past few years Lexie has been measuring her hair, waiting for the day that it is long enough to take the leap and cut it off! So now, at nearly 11 years old, this little superstar is ready to donate her hair and make someone's life a bit brighter.  Her family and the school community are very proud of her. Lexie is so pumped to see how much she can raise in addition to donating her hair, so if you can, get behind her and help some sick kids in the process.

Working Bee

A huge thank-you to the many families who were able to join us for the Working Bee on Saturday. It was great to top up the sandpit and make the playground safer with a new layer of soft-fall mulch. The sun shone for us throughout the afternoon and the jobs were completed in record time.

Jump Rope for Heart

Please join us this Wednesday afternoon at 2.20pm for our School Jump Off. This will involve each class sharing their skills and talents with the large and individual skipping ropes.

There is still time to register your child for their prizes also. Please follow the link to register and support healthy hearts and healthy students.
