Quality Teaching

In 2022 a Quality Teaching Team has been formed to focus on leading rich teaching and learning initiatives which build the skills and knowledge of our students while also providing teachers with on-going professional development.

This year the plan is for the team to celebrate and share the teaching and learning successes of our teachers and our students. The best form of professional learning is that gained from our colleagues and that is why we start there. While this is underway, we aim to re-work our teacher observation sheet to incorporate key features of the Quality Teaching Framework and collate a ‘Teacher’s Toolkit’ of tried and test teaching strategies and resources which can be utilised across all key learning areas.

We are excited about the initiatives planned for the year and look forward to seeing the continued success of our students in their learning.

NAPLAN Masterclass

2022 has seen the inception of the NAPLAN Masterclass come into action. Our Literacy Coordinators, Mrs Talitha Teresa and Mrs Saira Mohammad, led Year 9 and Year 7 students through an intensive set of lessons on the techniques needed to get the most out of their NAPLAN test and performance. Mrs Talitha Teresa has marked NAPLAN for 8 years and comes with a depth of knowledge on all matters NAPLAN and by default, literacy and numeracy. The Masterclasses focused on understanding the criteria used to mark NAPLAN by applying it to the structure of persuasive and narrative compositions, paragraphing and punctuation.

The sessions were a testament to the school’s focus on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for our students. These Masterclass will become a regular feature of the approach we take to the literacy and numeracy landscape of the school.
