• Covid-19

Covid-19 has caused a lot of problems for schools across the globe, which means it has caused a lot of problems for James Busby too.

James Busby has gone through quite a lot of change. Changing the way the school works and separating students by their age groups to ensure their safety from the virus. Though our school has almost made a full recovery and all the times and timetables have changed back to normal, our school still needs to deal with covid outside of school. By ‘deal with covid outside of school’ we mean making sure students who have been affected to stay home and wait till they recover. By doing this it is less likely for other students to catch the virus from another.

Some students have argued that learning from home was more difficult than it should have been, from either getting too much work to simply complete in the time period given for each lesson, to not having the right equipment or knowledge to proceed with online learning but they always had the support of teachers, even if it was “ via zoom”. 

• Climate Change

Due to climate change, Australia has experienced a lot of difficulties with climate change such as; higher temperatures, more extreme droughts, fire seasons and floods.

All listed has affected Australia quite a bit, specifically from 2019-2022, all across the entire country. Disasters such as floods have caused a few problems with Australians 

from either nearby roads becoming rivers to their entire street becoming a pond, these problems affect people's lives and make it more difficult to do simple things like drive to a nearby store or petrol station.

Lets be a “conscious community” and think about our choices.

Pollution

Currently the most polluted city in Australia in 2022 is, according to the foundation's analysis, the north-west Queensland city of Mount Isa. This city is home to about 20,000 Australians. 

High levels of air pollution is very capable of causing a BUNCH of adverse health outcomes, and is able to increase the risk of respiratory infections, heart diseases, and lung cancer. How can you help with getting rid of pollution? Well there is various different types on pollution and causes of them, the three major types of pollution being air pollution, water pollution and land pollution. 

To help with air pollution, you just need to limit the modern technologies, such as cars, and start using public transport to help decrease the amount of pollution going into the air. For water pollution you will need to start doing simple things like only using a dishwasher or washing machine when the load is full or even pick up any types of litter left by other irresponsible people. And finally, to help with land pollution is to do the exact thing you can do to stop water pollution, and that is start putting your rubbish in a bin, where it belongs after use. Pick up litter you can see to give a little help.
