James Busby's Kitchens

By Valencia, Natasha and Asher - Year 9

Why you should know about James Busby’s kitchens.

Out of all the schools in our area, one might wonder, why would I send my child to James Busby’s kitchens of all options? Reading this article will convince you that James Busby’s kitchens will prove most beneficial for your child’s education and well-being.

So many of us find comfort in cooking meals for ourselves or our loved ones whether that is cooking family dinners, sharing our talents in the form of a business or even just cooking for oneself, I think we can all agree that cooking can bring us all joy and contentment.

This is the environment that James Busby’s Home Economics staff tries to create for our students.

We interviewed 2 students from year nine, asking about their experiences in the kitchen and what drew them to food technology. The students chosen were Yara Elarnaout and Avni Prasad, who are taught by Evelyn Ranjit. Mrs Ranjit had nominated these two students as the two most well-rounded and skilled cooks in her year nine class.

When asked why they had chosen Food Tech as an elective, they both had the same response “for the food!”. Pursuing a career in culinary arts is a refined taste and these students had said that cooking at James Busby has made them very excited about pursuing a career in culinary arts.

Aside from this, James Busby Food Technology produces exceptional results in enjoyment and the development of students' cooking skills. James Busby High School is the only school in the area to have industrialized kitchens; with amazing, thoughtful lessons to go along with these special kitchens.
