Special Education Update
Shining Stars Visual Arts
The Shining Stars program is a series of workshops held at Marie Bashir Public School every Tuesday during Term 2. Several talented students were selected to participate in this program. Kim Isgro-Attwood (the department’s resident artist) has guided the students in creating their own artworks. This has been an exciting opportunity for the students to develop their art techniques and develop a piece of art that will go on public display.
I hope members of our school community check out the students’ completed artworks, when they are exhibited at the Campbelltown Arts Centre in Week 5, Term 3.
A big thank you to Mr Roberts for supporting our students!!!
Illawarra Art
This term the Illawarra Art class studied Asian Art. Students unearthed the history of ancient China’s terracotta warriors and crafted their own clay version. In the second half of this term, Illawarra studied contemporary Asian artists. We have been focusing on Yayoi Kusama, whose striking pumpkin sculptures inspired Illawarra to create their own colourful artworks using a range of Yayoi’s techniques.
A big thank you for Ms Saadia for her support to Illawarra!
Food Technology
This term, Miss Au’s food technology class studied Food for Specific Needs. Students learnt how to adjust a menu for diners with allergies and for people with specific food needs. Students developed and prepared a range of meals such as spaghetti bolognaise, Moroccan chicken and cous cous, peri peri chicken wraps and stir-fried noodles with vegetables. The class did a great job with the cooking and presenting their food to the executive team. Well Done!
A big thank you to Ms Amalfi and Ms B for all the help!
Next term’s theme is Food Trends!
