STAR WARS DAY – May the Fourth
Star Wars Day on May the Fourth was a big celebration in the Ballarat High School Library.
In the week leading up to the day we had book and memorabilia displays. Even students who weren't interested in Star Wars enjoyed checking out the lego models, kindly loaned to us by staff.
On the day, we began proceedings with Mr Marcollo and members of the brass band playing The Imperial March. We then ran 3 Kahoot quizzes with questions becoming harder in each round. Thirty-nine students and six staff members participated in the quizzes. They all did a fantastic job. Mr Warke was the overall winner - getting a place in each round. He was awarded a Star Wars book. Winners and place getters of each round also got a chocolate. Congratulations to Alex Hargreaves, Finn Read, Jasper Hall, Caden Spruce, Noah Nemshich, Mr Pompe and Mr Kelly for winning or placing in the rounds.
Our next quiz event will be Harry Potter Day in July.
RESEARCH CLASSES
Over the past few weeks Loretta has been running research classes with some year 9 and year 7 classes, teaching them internet searching tips and how to evaluate websites. Students have been reminded that our library is open until 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and until 4pm on Fridays and our qualified staff are keen to provide one on one assistance to students with any research related questions.
CLICKVIEW and FACEBOOK
Don’t forget that students have free access to ClickView at home and can watch age-appropriate films, television shows and documentaries ad-free on their devices. There is a huge variety of videos students can access by logging in with their school email address and you can feel safe letting your student browse and watch whatever interests them.
Our Library Facebook page is also a great way to keep up with all the activities of the Library including clubs, competitions and events and new resources in our library. On the page you will also see photos of our different displays including Star Wars Day and IDAHOBIT.
