Well  Done Mr Woods!!

Last Sunday, the Ballarat Arts Foundation presented a 21st Birthday concert, entitled “Made in Ballarat". It was an outstanding event, showcasing all the very best talent Ballarat has to offer in the Arts area.

The Ballarat Arts Foundation works to create and sustain a vibrant artistic community. They encourage and develop the aspirations and talents of emerging artists from all disciplines who have lived, worked or studied in Ballarat. To accomplish its purpose, the Foundation empowers community-based organisations and individuals to promote artistic expression and facilitate cultural exchange. They do this by providing seed funding, cultivating connections, mentoring, training and support.

BHS Head of Performing Arts, Mr Damien Woods, is a Grant Committee member at BAF and was Musical Director for the concert.  Damien formed a 24 piece Big Band and arranged 16 of the 17 musical scores.

The Big Band performers included current staff members Ashley Kelman, Dani Fry, Morgan Colgrave, Simon Marcollo and Bryn Hills, along with BHS and BAF student alumni: Paula Maki, Josh Woods, Sam Boon, Scott Mangos, Cassandra Liston, Brandon Humphrey, Adrian Liston, Traci Nesci and Daniel Watson.

Current Ballarat High School students are fortunate to be taught by staff who are professional artists in their own right and who display exemplary talent and passion.
