Election Day: Calling all bakers and sausage flippers!

CPS is a polling location for the federal election this Saturday, 21st May.  This means we will have a lot of people coming through our gates!  We are once again running BBQ and cake stall fundraisers on the day.

Can you spare an hour and a half between 9am - 3pm to help cook or sell food?

And / or bake some biscuits, cupcakes, loaf, slice or other goodies that we can sell at the cake stall?

Donations of baked goods can be delivered to the hall kitchen between 3:30 - 4pm this Friday, 20th May.  Please provide a list of all ingredients used, and clearly name any containers / plates to be returned. No cream or other items requiring refrigeration please.

Please pop your name down to bake or BBQ, at https://signup.com/go/cMaCqZC

Thank you!

Mothers’ Day Breakfast

On Friday 13th May almost 50 CPS Mums, of children from across all year levels of the school, enjoyed the second annual PFA Mothers’ Day breakfast at Major Mitchell Café.

It was a lovely morning of delicious food and great company, catching up with friends, and making new connections.  It was also lovely to have Linda and Karen pop in to say hi to us all.

Thank you to all who attended, and supported the raffle on the day.  The raffle was the fundraising component of the event, and raised approximately $350 for the school, which is amazing!

Huge thanks to Elle Cato and Sandra Michela for organising the breakfast, and to the following generous supporters who donated prizes:

  • Cathy (Mum of Amelia in Grade 3) @pretty_peonie
  • Alicia (Mum of Jasper in Grade 6) @sometimesalicia
  • Liana James Hair & Beauty (37 Koornang Road, Carnegie)
  • Carnegie Pharmacy (85 Koornang Road, Carnegie)
  • Major Mitchell Café (122 Grange Rd, Carnegie)
  • Grill’d Carnegie (86 Koornang Road, Carnegie)
  • Coco’s Patisserie (88 Koornang Road, Carnegie)
  • Glen Eira Leisure

PFA Popcorn Days

Last year, the PFA were the lucky recipients of a huge popcorn machine, donated by James Kondarovskis (Dad of Victor in Grade 2), from the Superpop Group - thank you James and Superpop!

Our first popcorn days for 2022 will be:

  • Friday 20th May, for students in Grades Prep - 2
  • Thursday 2nd June, for students in Grades 3 - 6

Popcorn will be available at lunch time for $1 a bag.  Ingredients are gluten and dairy free. Credit and thanks to Lucy Gow (Mum of Harvey in Grade 3) for the awesome CPS popcorn artwork shown above (@lucygow_illustration); and to Lee Vu (Mum of Alice in Grade 6, Audrey in Grade 3 and Adeline in Grade 1) for the taste bud tantalising promotional video - shown below.

Shifts to help with future popcorn days will be advertised on SignUp - it’s a fun and tasty way to spend a couple of hours, and be very popular with your kids!

Upcoming Events

Given the popularity of our food fundraisers such as cherries, mangoes, apples and pears, we are currently working with an egg farmer around a free range egg fundraiser – watch out for more details on this on Compass next week.

You’ll be able to use the eggs you buy to do some baking for Cupcake Day / Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, which will be held on Monday 6th June – more details to come soon.
