Music

Kii!

We have had a whirlwind month in the Music Room! In between Covid absences, we have been using graphic and conventional notation to write our own music… (Photos 1,2) and to finish off their semester in the music room, playing lots of music games… (photos 3,4,5).

At recess time, students have had the opportunity to come into the Music Room and play instruments of their choice and explore their passions (photo 6, 7).

Baker Boy Excursion

Year Three and Four students bundled on to a train headed to the city, excitement in the air as other schools also got on to the train, all heading to see Baker Boy. Arriving at Hamer Hall, we swarmed orderly into our seats, wearing our Baker Boy hats that had been given to each student. Excitement mounting, students got to their feet and danced to the DJ set, marvelled at the breakdancers, swooned at the singers and finally sang along to Baker Boy. It was so great to see students engaging with the performances in their own unique way.

The Duet Program is run by the Song Room and pairs Teaching Artist Mentors with Classroom Teachers to work together on a Music goal. I am so excited to be working with Milly and Jo B this year! We have started working together with their classes on bringing music into their every days at school. The program will go for another 7 weeks next term.

Here is me working with Milly’s class.
