In the Art / Craft Room

Our TPS community Arts Fest 2022 is approaching! Look out for how you can be involved.  Details available at teacher student conference next term.

Art

Students have completed their Pop Art paintings. The students really enjoyed exploring artists Andy Warhol, Kaws, Keith Haring and Bansky. Students used images from mass media, such as comic books, food items, clothing and toys to create their artworks.

We have also completed our clay unit once again focusing on Pop Art, particularly looking at the collectable toys of artist KAWS, to inspire us. Students will use various clay techniques such as pinch pots, coils and slab construction to make their toy sculptures.

These will later be painted in bold colours in the style of KAWS’s toys.

Term three we will focus on our textile unit with all students experiencing wet and dry felting techniques.

Craft

Students have completed their felted craft items. We can't wait to have them on display at our Arts festival in term four. This term we explored our classroom main lessons through clay. Students in the prep class are looking at nature. They made pinch pots and leaf mobiles. Class one has completed their clay garden gnomes and class two finished working on their lizard sculptures. Class three have created different farm animals. Class 4/5 explored food from around the world and class 5/6 looked to ancient Greece for their clay inspiration.

All students will be working on their knitting projects in term three, so we will need lots of adults to assist with supporting students to learn knitting. If you are able to help please come along and support the craft program. You will need a current working with children check. Please sign in at the office before you come to the art room.Looking forward to working with all you again,
