Gardening

This month in gardening we have been embracing the cooler weather.

To acknowledge Reconciliation Week, we spent time exploring and learning about the many uses of the plants in our First Nations garden. We tasted lemon myrtle tea which is rich in calcium, making it good for our bones.

We received a big delivery of mulch, which the children have delighted in moving and spreading across the school. We were excited to discover the heat produced by the mulch pile as part of it's decomposition process - we dug holes in the pile to warm up our hands!

In the lead up to Winter Solstice, the children have decorated and constructed lanterns for a lantern walk in the final week of school, followed by a cup of warm soup.

A huge Ngoongodgin to the grade 5/6 students who helped us with the lantern making!
