End of Term Two Reflections
School Review 2022 - Pre Review Self Evaluation
This term we have completed our Pre Review Self Evaluation looking back over the last four years of our achievements and area for further growth. Our staff, students and community have all had the chance to input into these reflections. Below you can see student voice unpacking our school data about managing bullying at school. It was incredible to hold this forum and hear the discussion about what helps and could improve our school supporting students who feel bullied.
Communicating Learning to Parents/Carers
Term Three Planning Week - Future Learning Focus
All teaching teams have recently had a day together to plan their Term Three curriculum. Teachers collaborate together using student assessments to determine the learning needs for the year level and individual students. We will communicate this learning to parents/carers in a Future Learning Focus which will be posted to Compass at the beginning of next term. We are excited about our upcoming NAIDOC day celebrations in Term Three and all of the integrated learning units across all the classes. Thank you to our teachers for working together to plan engaging learning experiences.
Reflection - School Wide Positive Behaviours (SWPBS)
Being a School Wide Positive Behaviour School we think of learning across all areas academic, social, emotional and behaviours. Our school Deadly behaviour of "I check what can be done better next time." is the premise of reflection across all areas of the school. When students come to reflection with Emma, Megan, Anna or Rylee we encourage them to reflect on how we can be better learners or solve problems in a better way. It is a supportive and re-teach moment with discussion and actions to support making better choices in the future. Student are often encouraged to write or draw their reflections. These students are practicing counting by 2's linked to their Maths learning.
Nature Play in the Yard
Spending time in the yard at recess and lunch I have the opportunity to see all of the amazing and creative play that our students across the school participate in during their breaks. Running games, basketball, down ball and chasing games fill the school yard with energy and excitement. Other play includes collaborative play games such as rock paper scissors and sharing equipment, taking turns to climb, swing and slide. Today I was tuning into our nature play across the yard which included making homes for snails, creating rivers in the sandpit and digging for gold. Play is an important part of childhood and learning. We encourage lots of play throughout our learning day for both students and adults!
Nanggit Balit - Strong Leaders
Our student leaders represented our school at the Victorian Aboriginal Remembrance Service on 31st May. This commemoration honoured the service of First Peoples men and women, past and present.
First Peoples have served in every conflict and peacekeeping mission involving Australia for more than a century. This is despite the fact that First Peoples were not allowed to enlist until the Second World War and for many years, their service was not recognised.
