Celebrating our fabulous Foundies!
Last week was our first session of PMP (Perceptual Motor Program). The kids had a ball working through the stations. Children work on their balance and coordination skills with some very fun activities. Thank you so much to Fiona, Mackenzie’s mum for helping us out! If you’re keen to help please sign up there is plenty of spots available for PMP. We would LOVE the assistance.
Maggie is working hard at her Maths rotations for her teen numbers. Students can now easily identify teen numbers as a group of 10 and the extra ones. It may seem simple but there is a lot more to numbers to 20 that we must master. Maggie is aiming to peg the right number for each teen card and then she placed the cards in order. What a superstar!
Teen number rotations! This is our last week on our ‘teen number’ unit in maths, students have worked hard over the weeks learning that a teen number is made from 1 group of 10 and extra ones. Student had fun moving around the room completing different teen number activities. "Tic Tac Teen" was a hit!
We have had so much fun learning about our BRAINS! We are learning about all our school values this term and one of our values is ‘Learning’. We are studying how the brain works and how we learn every day! We have neurons in our brains that make connections every time we learn something new, these neurons send messages all over our body! To celebrate our learning we made our own neurone and grass heads to watch our brains and neurones grow!
Over the past few weeks we have been doing some fantastic learning and challenging ourselves so that our brain muscle stretches and grows. This week Foundation C students are embracing and learning from mistakes. Here are Rory Smith, Billy J-V and Alex W after they successfully constructed a bridge out of 3 plastic cups and three icy pole sticks for 20 teddy bears to rest on! Well done on such great team work and persistence boys 😊
Another great flow on effect from learning about how it is good to take risks with our learning is that students are now having a go at writing more! Freya H should be very proud of her Diary Writing from this week. It was fabulous to hear her stretching out her sounds and remembering her finger spaces between the words. Excellent effort Freya!
