Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours !
It’s been a very exciting time in 3/4A as we’ve finally been able to start using our Chromebooks! We’ve completed an inferencing activity on a Google Doc in Reading and it’s been lots of fun practising our typing.
In Maths, we’ve enjoyed exploring Statistics by posing a question to our classmates, collecting the information, and then graphing that data in various ways.
Chromebooks – YAY!
Thank you families, for being so prompt with your response to our Chromebook agreements. To say that the students were excited to start using them is an understatement…
After logging in to Google Classroom, they completed a set task for Persuasive Writing. The students agreed or disagreed with the topic on each slide, then typed out their 3 reasons for their opinion. They are picking up these new skills so quickly!
The students in 3/4C have been busy learning about different parts of speech. This has involved experimenting with different types of nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives. One of the activities involved creating a monster and describing its features using interesting adjectives. Below is Samara’s Octopina Adjective Monster.
In Maths, the students have been learning different addition strategies. Some of these strategies include the vertical algorithm, split strategy and jump strategy. These strategies can be seen in Scarlett’s work example below.
This week in 3/4D, the students created their own adjectives monster. We learnt that adjectives describe the qualities or states of a noun. We also explored how adjectives can be used in conjunction with the five sense to paint a clear image in the reader's mind.
In Maths, students had to demonstrate their understanding of addition using the Split Strategy, Vertical Algorithm and the Jump Strategy. This task intends to strengthen their understanding of the place value system and make links between each strategy.
Circle Time: In 3/4E, we love to start our day with Circle Time. It allows us to connect, share special news and express feelings. The highlight is definitely the positive primer, which leaves everyone energised and ready to learn! All students have the chance to be the Circle Leader and guide the class through our routine. It is one of our favourite parts of the day!
Cross Country: We were so proud of all our runners last week! A big congratulations to the 6 students from 3/4E attending District.
