Leadership @ MPS

Staff News:
The time has come to say "farewell and best wishes" to our wonderful Claire! We have bees so fortunate to have had Claire's passion and love of all things SAKG in our Monty PS world. We wish Claire and her partner Tom all the very best as they welcome their first born in the coming weeks. We can't wait to meet this new addition!
Whilst Claire is on maternity leave, we welcome Dave Joseph to the coordinator role of the SAKG program. Dave comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience, having worked in both schools and other industries. Dave brings passion and experience in the areas of cooking and gardening as well as a creative flair - all necessary as we move into the next stage of our new building project! Please make Dave welcome!
It is with sadness that I announce that next week, will be Noriko's final week at Monty PS. Noriko has taken up a very exciting position at Caulfield Primary as a full time teacher in a bilingual classroom. This is a wonderful opportunity for Noriko and although we will miss her, we are excited for her to take this next step in her teaching career. Thank you, Noriko, for the wonderful contribution that you have made to our Japanese program.
We have been extremely fortunate to have found a replacement for Noriko. Junko Nichols will be starting as the Japanese teacher in Term 3. Some of our Grade 5 and 6 students will remember Junko, as she established the Japanese program here at Monty five and a half years ago. Junko then moved to NSW, only returning to Melbourne at the start of the year. We are delighted that she will be returning to us and cannot wait to welcome her back, at the very start of Term 3.
Upcoming Events:
We are very aware that there has been limited opportunity for parents to socialise over the last couple of years and we are always looking at ways where we can strengthen relationships. Montibello in Were St have kindly agreed to host our inaugural
"Mum's Night Out". Our first group will be the Grade 2 Mum's on Thursday 2nd June. Take this opportunity to get to know people in your child's year level and at the same time, support a local business! We are working with Montibello to firm up dates for other year levels - watch this space!
Grade 2 mums- Places are limited and are filling fast - don't delay!
Working Bee
What a fabulous turnout! Thank you to everyone for the enormous effort last Saturday. The list of jobs was huge and we managed to get through that list! Special thanks to Dave Koolstra who coordinated the day and sorted and disposed of the scrap metal! There will be further Working Bees as we get closer to the new build, especially as we begin to relocate the SAKG garden.
Reminder - Student-free day - Friday 27th May. CAMP AUST are open for bookings on that day. Please book online.
Take care everyone,
Janene and Bek
