Senior School

The Senior School at Blue Mountains Grammar always bustles with purposeful activity, and this week has been no different.

Congratulations to our Year 10 students, who have this week finished their Mid-Year Assessment Block. Students sat examination-style assessments in a range of subjects, which is a pleasing return to the normal routine of School after two COVID-affected years. While we know that students are much more than an exam score, learning how best to demonstrate their learning under pressure remains an important skill, and one that we know will serve them well in the HSC and beyond.

Almost 100 of our Senior School students from Year 7 – 12 attended the ISA Cross Country this week. All those who attended are thanked for their willing representation of our School community, whether they celebrated victory afterwards… or simply enjoyed the fresh air and camaraderie of the day.

This week we also celebrated the launch of the Year 11 Leadership Program, in which our students will work collaboratively to choose an area of community life (e.g. enhancing relationships between year groups or increasing environmental awareness) and create an improvement plan to address it. Students will now work in Tutor Groups to research and plan for improvement in their chosen domain over coming weeks, as they consider their growth in character and capacity for student leadership. Student leadership applications will be distributed at the end of Term 2, and will be due in Week 1 of Term 3.

Finally, thank you to the many parents who have worked alongside staff over recent weeks to improve the quality of student uniform and presentation. As I stand on duty at the roundabout in the mornings, I am conscious of a distinct shift, with more and more students wearing their uniforms with pride. I encourage all parents and caregivers to continue this conversation with your children where needed.
