The swim team and sports captains at Northcote Pool

Intermediate Girls' Regional Cricket

Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls' Cricket finished on top of their pool at Regional Cricket on Wednesday 3 March. With many key players away on camp, the girls really did a fantastic job in defeating Gladstone Park and Diamond Valley.  The team will now play in the Regional Grand final against Melbourne Girls College in term 4.

Division Swimming

Northcote High hosted the Division Swimming Competition at Northcote Aquatic Centre, last Thursday.  Once again our school took the largest team to the meet with 54 members ranging from Year 7 through to Year 11.  With a lot of success in the pool, many of our swimmers have qualified to compete in the Regional Carnival which is to be held on March 24 at Watermarc.  A big thank you to our Sports Captains who helped with the smooth running of the day.

Seniors' Success

Congratulations to our Senior Teams who have recently competed in Division Sport Competitions.  We had teams competing in Senior Volleyball and Senior Tennis.  Our Senior girls Volleyball team and our Senior Boys Tennis team both won their way through their round robin competition and now have qualified to play in the Regional Competitions on March 29. Senior Boys Volleyball showed great sportsmanship and team play, but just missed out finishing in third place.

Baseball

On Monday this week we fielded a Year 7/8 and a Year 9/10 Baseball team. Both teams had been well prepared by current PE teacher and ex Junior Australian baseballer Jamie Lethborg. Both teams won on the day, playing against Thornbury, Reservoir and Lalor SC in local Divisional games. Over their games our juniors scored 24 to 5 runs and our Intermediates scored 24 to 11 runs. Special thanks to Ethan Wainwright of Year 10 and Edison Christov of Year 8 who helped with packing gear, coaching and teaching their teammates. Every student in attendance played and assisted, making it a great day out of the classroom.
