International Women's Day

Free dress day to celebrate IWD

Taking action for equality

To celebrate International Women's Day 2021, the NHS Feminist Collective organised a series of events throughout the week, inspired by the 2021 IWD theme #ChooseToChallenge. These events included musical performances by NHS jazz band Swing Shift and students Tessa Poon and Rosa Leach, guest speaker Su Rogerson, and a free dress day which raised money for Australian charity Share The Dignity.

International Women's Day Breakfast

Last week our school captains, Lucy Rachman Vascotto, Kitty Robinson, Stella Russo and Zac Johnstone, attended the Business Chicks International Women’s Day breakfast at Crown Palladium.

Inspiring guest speakers included Wendy McCarthy AO, an Australian businesswoman, activist, former university administrator, who has worked for reform across the public, private and community sectors, in education, family planning, human rights, public health, and overseas aid and development, as well as in conservation, heritage, and media, Kelly Cartwright OAM, Australian athlete, who won two medals at the London Paralympics 2012, and represented Australia in the Beijing Paralympics 2008, and Nyadol Nyuon, an Australian lawyer and human rights advocate, who was born in a refugee camp in Ethiopia, of a family fleeing the second Sudanese civil war, she works as a commercial litigator in Melbourne and is a regular media commentator.

"We were really excited to be invited to the breakfast. We enjoyed the immersive experience of being surrounded by such high achieving and motivated women. Both them and the remarkable speakers were a great inspiration to us as captains."
