Student Wellbeing

WOW Groups

In our W.O.W Group sessions, we have been exploring the VIA Character Strength of Social Intelligence. This strength is about knowing what makes other people and yourself tick, understanding how they feel and how to behave in different social situations.

Last Friday we read the book Room On Our Rock. The children discussed how empathy is putting yourself in other people’s shoes and imagining how you would feel in their situation.  The challenge in their group was to use 6 pieces of newspaper to create a "rock" where all members of the group could fit.

St James Student Code of Conduct

The SJV Student Code of Conduct has been reviewed, refined, and approved for 2021. Every year the SRC reviews and ratifies the code of conduct to ensure it reflects student voice.

This year we are sending home a copy for you to read and discuss with your child. We then ask you to return a signed copy to your child’s classroom teacher. A class copy will also be on display in your child’s classroom for them to refer to.

Below is a copy of the current Student Code of Conduct.

As a student of St James I agree to the following behaviours:

  • Respecting all people, property, and the school environment
  • Following Directions Immediately
  • Listening to Others
  • Being Kind
  • Looking After One Another
  • Trying My Best & Don’t Give Up
  • Making Safe Choices
  • Speaking Up When I Feel Unsafe or Uncomfortable
