Good Afternoon Families of OLSC

What a difference a week makes!  Since our last newsletter we have all been part of a snap lock down that took us all by surprise.  I thank the OLSC community for the flexibility to adjust when these challenges face us.  The students settled back into school well yesterday and there was a calm learning atmosphere in the centres.

Meet & Greet Date and Format Change

As a result of the snap lockdown and the lack of time to alter the format for this week's planned Meet & Greets they will now take place digitally on Monday 22nd February and Wednesday 24th of February.  If you haven't yet booked a Meet & Greet time with your child's teacher(s) I remind you to do so.  This is a great opportunity to meet up with your child's teacher for 2021.

Bookings for the Meet & Greet are still open.  Please click on the link on our school website and type the code - 4cqtc

Updated COVID Restrictions for School

Following the easing for the 5 day lock down and as communicated by the Victorian Government on Wednesday school will revert back to normal operation with some restrictions in place.

FACE MASKS - although unpleasant in the current heat it is asked that all adults wear a face mask when inside and when outside if social distancing cannot be achieved.

AVOID ENTERING SCHOOL BUILDINGS & QR CODES

Parents are asked to avoid entering the school buildings if possible. If it is necessary to enter the school please asked register your visit by using the QR codes posted at each door way. This is to ease contact tracing should the need arise.

If you are briefly calling into the office there is no need to register your visit using the QR codes.

Sacrament of Reconciliation Family Night - Postponed

The planned Reconciliation Family night for Wednesday the 24th February has been postponed.  The planned new date for this event is Wednesday 10th March at 6:30pm in the Sports Centre.  In the event COVID restrictions change and the number of people permitted onsite is reduced further the evening may need to change to a digital format.  If this is the case information will be shared as soon as possible.

Uniform Ordering

We are attempting to move most of the uniform ordering to an online format and this is proving to be quite successful so far.  If parents / carers are able to purchase uniform items online there is a link on our school website or this can be done by accessing the link below.

https://www.olscwyn.catholic.edu.au/page/79/School-Uniform

We have uploaded a sizing chart for you to measure your child's size.  All orders are received on a Tuesday and will be processed and sent out that afternoon, unless we are out of stock. Stocks are slowly starting to come in after delays due to Covid.  If there are items that are not in stock, you will be notified and the items will be sent home as soon as they arrive.  The best suggestion is to order the size you think is right.  When you receive the order, do not remove the tags and try the uniform on your child.  If the sizing is incorrect and the tag is still attached, you can send the order back for an exchange.  If you have any questions, please email Michelle uniform@olscwyn.catholic.edu.au

Traffic Traffic Traffic - Repeated from last newsletter

School traffic and the congestion is a much of a problem as it has ever been.  I understand that school traffic is extremely frustrating and ask parents to remember the road rules and the need to be safe and courteous on the roads and in the school car park.  At OLSC our number one priority is to ensure the safety of the community.  There is no easy solution to the congestion problem especially with 2 large schools in the same area and so I remind all motorists of the importance of being patient and following the road rules to keep all road users safe!

I urge you to contact the council to voice your concerns.

Some suggestions to help ease congestion:

  • please fill the school carparks before queuing
  • avoid blocking the lanes on Howqua Way when waiting to gain entry into the car park
  • park off site and walk part of the way
  • utilise the back gate as well
  • avoid double parking and blocking traffic in Academy Way and Howqua Way
  • obey the 'no u-turn' signs on Academy Way

Have a great weekend and see you all next week!

Stay safe and stay well.
