From the Executive

The year has begun with a vengeance with information nights, retreats, camps and a different Inaugural Mass. Students in senior school need to be congratulated for their dedication and resilience in returning to normal school life. Recovering from a pandemic is no easy task. Routine, discipline and balance are often hard targets to achieve. Juggling commitments, homework and extra-curricula has had its challenges. However, I am proud to say that the Mazenod young men have bounced back with confidence and perseverance.
At Mazenod College students are encouraged to pursue and develop leadership qualities that engage them in formal and informal opportunities. The school provides a variety of experiences in all aspects of community, environment and education, where students can fulfil their leadership potential. Each student has a unique perspective on all forms of growth in the educational environment and the possibility to exercise leadership. Wearing a badge is not confined to titles, but rather an opportunity to share one’s self with fellow staff, students and the wider community. The student's voice gives each student the opportunity to participate in decisions that impact the school community and educational system.
At the beginning of every year, the school provides opportunities for students to engage in leadership roles. Every year level has SRC and Liturgy representatives. A new role, Social Justice, has been developed for Year 10 to 7 students. The concept for this title is to engage students in the teachings of Jesus Christ and love in our communities, by acknowledging the human dignity of all people and working for the common good.
We are fortunate to have a very dedicated group of students for 2021 who have taken a lead role in forming the Year 12 student executive leadership body. These are the captains and vice-captains, including the head prefects, portfolio prefects and house captains.

Congratulations to all students who are currently in positions of leadership. With your dedicated effort and goodwill Mazenod College will make a difference in an ever-changing world.
Senior school life continues at the College with planning and preparation for Mission Action Day, Year 10 outdoor education and the Year 12 retreat. Students from Year 10 are preparing to embark on their surf camps, driver education and pastoral care activities. Whilst the Year 12 men will consider faith and manhood. Students have settled in to work habits and are quickly realising that academics need to be a priority. Career development will be an important feature and I encourage parents to regularly discuss pathways and commitment to learning with their sons. Our young men are precious, and as parents, I understand that we want them to be happy, healthy and find their place in the world.
