Stella (Middle School) Picnic

Tuesday last week, the 23rd of February, all of Stella House gathered together for a lively picnic. Our journey began when we made our way to Banyule flats, after around fifteen minutes of walking we finally arrived to the huge, beautiful oval.  We spent the remaining hour of the school day having a blast.  A whole hour filled with snacks, games, music and lots of fun!  Everyone was free to do what they enjoyed, some people had brought card games, others preferred to play sports, and some people (such as myself) chose to just chill and hang out with friends.  My friends and I had brought picnic blankets and loads of snacks, it was nice to just have a break and time to catch up after a long day of school.

The entirety of Stella house had even contributed to making an awesome picnic playlist, so there was something for everyone to enjoy!  A bit of pop music, indie, classical, rap, a bit of everything really!  When the school day had finally come to an end, everyone cleaned up after themselves, leaving the place spotless as it was before.  Before we headed off back to school we took a big group photo, it was wonderful seeing everyone in Stella all together with big smiles on their faces.  This picnic was a terrific experience where we got to meet other Stella students from different launch groups and overall just have fun.

Tuesday’s Terra house picnic

In the morning of Tuesday, I remember the amount of excitement that bubbled up inside me, I could tell it in my friends too. Today it was our house’s (Terra) turn to take a trip down to Banyule flats and spend our launch session having a picnic. I had heard such great things about it from my friends and I could not wait to experience it myself.

Came the time of the picnic and I along with my friends found it really easy to get in line with our Launch Class, and before I knew it we were all on our way down to Banyule Flats, everyone was buzzing with excitement. I found the walk quick, which was a bonus, and before I and in fact anyone could say popcorn and picnic blankets, I was indeed getting out my popcorn and picnic blanket down by the oval at Banyule Flats.

The music was turned up, everyone got out their food and blankets, sat with their friends and joked about, it was a great atmosphere. I myself had a little snack with my friends then we found a spot on the oval and kicked the footy around. I was very appreciative of the fact that sports equipment had been provided by the school for us students to play with.

I found many benefits from that trip, sometimes you just need a little break, a little socializing time, I liked just getting out there, and I noticed everybody’s mindfulness state flourish and boom with activity. I really enjoyed the outing my house decided to take and I hope that this or something similar to this will happen again in the near future.
