ALL WELCOME – WORSHIP AT ST PAUL

Everyone is welcome to join us on Sunday morning for worship. Worship times are 8.30am for a Traditional Service and 10.00am for a more Contemporary service with Godly Play on offer for Primary School aged children. Tea and Coffee and a time of gathering is held most weeks after both worship services.

PLAYGROUP @ ST PAUL

Playgroup @ St Paul is on each Tuesday during Term time in the Hall.  We welcome people anytime from 8.30am onwards to help set up. Join us for a coffee, playtime, story time and songs from 9-10.30am each week during school terms. Cost is $2 per family.  We offer a simple craft, a sensory activity and read a book related to a different theme each week.

This week we looked at different nursery rhymes for Nursery Rhyme Day.  We ‘made cakes’ for ‘pat-a-cake’, sprinkled blue rice down the pipes for ‘Incy Wincy’, coloured in mice to run up the clock for ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’, helped Little Bo Peep find her lost sheep, planted flowers in the sand for ‘Mary, Mary quite contrary’, watched the stars twinkle in the star jar, sent the five little ducks over the hills and far away (and brought them back again), were careful of the crocodile in the water while playing with boats and made different animal noises for ‘Old McDonald’s Farm’ amongst other activities. It was a lot of fun and a little bit different to our normal playgroup format.

Next week we will be exploring families in the book ‘Me and You’ by Deborah Kelly.

For more information about anything playgroup related contact Kylie Koelman in the Church Office on 8262 4690 or email at office@stpaul-church.org.au

GROWING FAITH AT HOME

This resource is developed by the Lutheran Church of Australia and is intended to be a guide in sharing faith activities with members of your family.

Here are a few ways you could introduce faith discussions in your home and day-to-day life.

This week the Bible readings focus on the miracle of Jesus walking on the water.  Jesus had gone off by himself to pray and his disciples were out in a boat when strong winds and huge waves rock the boat.  Jesus sees this and walks across the water to them and the disciples think it is a ghost until Jesus speaks to them “Have courage! It is I.  Do not be afraid.” (Matthew 14:27).  Peter then steps out of the boat to walk on the water too, but soon becomes scared because of the wind and the waves, and when he cries out for help, Jesus immediately reaches out to save him.

Through all the ‘strong winds’ and ‘big waves’ of life, Jesus is always there, ready to reach out to you when you ask him.

Mealtime Prayer:

Thank you for this food and your care today; lead us, Jesus, in your way. Amen.

Prayer:

Jesus you are truly the Son of God.  Please take us by the hand and rescue us from trouble. Amen.

Blessing:

(Child’s name) May the Lord Jesus take hold of you when you are scared. May he give you faith to trust in him.  Amen.

PASTY BAKES

The next pasty bake is this Thursday 10th August.  Pasties are $15 for a half dozen.  Put your order through to Renate on 0405 433 030 or contact the Church Office on 8262 4690 to arrange payments and pick up.  Funds raised go towards the ministry and mission of St Paul Lutheran Church.

LUTHERAN CARE

Did you know that Lutheran Care maintain a food pantry to help families in need?  This program is called Loaves and Fishes and they require new food donations each month.  For the month of August they are looking for donations of 2 minute noodles, tinned tuna, tinned fruit, tinned spaghetti, baked beans, muesli bars and roll ups. Donations are collected through the church office or can be donated directly to Lutheran Care, 309 Prospect Road.
