9/10 Elective English Cinema Visit

Last term English Plus studied genre and critique, focusing on film review. Students learned what makes for effective criticism by deconstructing model reviews written by the greats. After practising the art of review, evaluating short films and other texts of personal interest (favourite films, novels and TV series), the class visited the local Forum 6 Cinemas to further apply the skills they had developed throughout the term. Clipboards in tow, students attended a screening of the 2023 live-action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid’ to form their opinions and gather evidence from the film before composing their own reviews of it.
