Astronomy Club Visit
A group of year 10 students went to the Astronomy Club to learn about how Maths is used in surveying. The students also got to experience jobs related to what is involved in Surveying.
Year 12 University Offers
Congratulations to a few of our Year 12 students who have already received offers from several universities after applying to Early Entry Schemes. Many similar schemes offered by various universities will close on different dates this term.
UAC applications and early entry applications including SRS
This is the term when UAC applications need to be made to avoid the increased application cost after September 29.
The most important date coming up is 18 September which is the deadline for students to be considered for early entry through the Schools Recommendation Scheme.
It is highly recommended that students make an appointment to have a chat with Mrs Barrett about their university applications to make sure they are enhancing their opportunities for being successful in receiving offers and not missing out on certain schemes that are available. It would be best to do this after they complete their Trial HSC exams and before the end of Week 9.
Scholarships
Many scholarships are currently available to students. Some come from universities, colleges and TAFE and some are from other organisations such as Teach NSW. Each year there are scholarships for the children and grandchildren of ex-serving veterans, a student who is the first in their family to attend university and many more.
These are listed in the career resources added to the Year 12 Google Classroom and in the Careers Newsletters that are posted each week on the Careers@McCarthy website on the Newsletters page accessible to both parents and students.
