Dear Parents, Carers, Families and Students,
Welcome to Term 3!
Firstly I would like to thank all students, families and staff for a successful Term 2. It was fantastic to finish the term with a whole school assembly followed by our 2nd Colour Explosion event. The assembly provided an opportunity to celebration and recognise student progress and achievements through Semester 1. Our student leaders played a significant role in organising and presenting at the assembly.
The remainder of the day was devoted to our colour explosion carnival, with staff and students enjoying a range of activities that supported student and staff relationships and connection.
I would also like to thank our school community for the support shown regarding our student moderation processes. The moderation of student assessment tasks in undertaken once per team, usually in the second week of the term. In 2023 we have begun to incorporate students into these meetings. The insights provided by students has been very valuable. It is also a wonderful way for students and staff to connect, strengthen relationships and refine curriculum for improved student outcomes.
Coming up in Term 3
Student subject and course selection.
In term three students from Year 8 through to Year 11 will be engaged in a variety of pathways and subject selection activities in preparation for 2024. Ensuring students have an active voice in their learning about pathways is highly valued by the College. I would encourage all parents to engage in conversations about subjects and areas of student interest. Our priority as a school is to focus our subject selection and course counselling on what students enjoy and are interested in, rather than attempting to get students to fix on one career.
College Production – Indelible Ink.
Our College Production is running from Wednesday August 9th through to Friday August 11th. Our students and staff have been working hard at rehearsals and I am very much looking forward to being in the audience to support our students and enjoy the show.
State School Spectacular.
I am looking forward to seeing our students perform at this event later in the term. Our students have been part of the choir and dance groups assembled for the event. These groups are made up of students across a variety of schools. A big thanks again to our performing arts staff for their organisation and support of student involvement in the event.
Building works upgrade.
The process for progressing this work will also be commencing this term with an initial meeting with potential architects occurring in week 3 of the term. I am very much looking forward to how the upgrade(s) can be used to improve classrooms as well as assisting student connection to the school and staff.
Uniform and arriving on time.
Thank you to parents for your ongoing support in ensuring students arrive in full school uniform and on time for classes. Our improvements in this area will remain a daily focus for the College. In order to meet these expectations the College also provides a range of supports for students and families. Please contact the College if you have any questions.
Many thanks again for your ongoing support of the College and I look forward to a successful term ahead.
