It was very exciting to be able to launch our very own mini supermarket on Tuesday 1st August. This program will provide so many added opportunities for hands on learning for students across the school. Verney Road Fresh will also allow some of our students who have up until now, had little experience in a supermarket setting, an opportunity to experience a supermarket in a safe environment that does not overwhelm them. It will provide them with hands on experiences in maths and literacy while providing opportunities to develop other life skills such as budgeting and cooking.
In 2024 we will also run certificate courses in retail for some of our Senior Years students which will provide a platform to develop real life work skills and pathways to future work opportunities.
The smiles on the faces of our students say it all!
Preparations are underway for this year's Verney Road School Debutante Ball, to be held on 12th September 2023.
In the lead-up, we are seeking deb dresses sizes 18+. Any donations or loans would be greatly appreciated, and can be dropped at the Front Office.
Senior Years (Yr 10-12) families/carers please save Friday the 18th of August in your calendars!
VRS will be hosting a Student Pathway Expo - giving you the chance to come along and meet representatives from various service providers & disability organisations and learn more about what they can offer your child when they graduate from Verney Road School.
More details to come next week!
The 2023 Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey (PCGOS) will be open between Monday 7 August and Friday 8 September 2023.
An invitation to complete this survey will be sent out to all families on Monday.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback which will assist us and the wider school community.
Enjoy your weekend 😊
