Book Week is just around the corner and Week Six is looking very busy!
Term Three is my favourite term because of Book Week.
This year the theme is “Read, Grow, Inspire”. I love to share the shortlisted books with our students. You can see the shortlisted books here.
Author/illustrator Matt Ottley created the artwork for Book Week in 2023. He explains that he included a seahorse in the artwork because for many cultures the seahorse represents growth, strength, beauty and spirituality. Books can motivate, inspire and help our readers to grow. You can see Matt Ottley talk about his artwork for Book Week here.
Dress-up Day
On Thursday 24 August, Primary students will be having a Dress-Up parade in the Multi-Purpose Sport Complex at 9.00am. Parents are welcome to attend.
What to wear on the day?
Students have many options for this dress-up day and simple is often the best. They could come as a character from a book that inspires them; their class may choose one of the shortlisted books and dress up as class about that book, or, as we are incorporating Science Week, students may like to dress as a famous scientist.
Please check with your classroom teachers as they may be thinking of having a classroom theme for the dress-up.
Book Club Reminder
Friday 4 August by 10.00am is the last day for a book club order. Thank you for your support of our library.
